This month, the award-winning Danielle Walker (MICF RAW Winner & Best Newcomer, ABC’s Comedy Up Late) is with us from Melbourne to headline the show, we’ve snagged Blake Freeman to feature (Comedy Up Late, MICF Best Newcomer) from Sydney, Dan Rath (MICF Nominee) is with us from Sydney and our very own Gold Coast comedy crusher Dalton Whiskey is taking the stage as well!
Danielle Walker is a strange, if not perhaps slightly deranged girl known for her dark and twisted everyday observations and stories. Moving from Townsville to Melbourne in 2015, Danielle started gigging and honing her craft and it was in early 2016 that she took out the prize in Australia’s biggest open mic competition and was named Raw Comedy National Champion.
Since then, Danielle has been handpicked by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival to be part of ‘The Comedy Zone’ a line-up show in the festival of the 5 best new comedians from around Australia and has gone on to appear on Comedy Up Late and Stand and Deliver, both for the ABC.
Danielle recently appeared as ‘Ranger Danny’ alongside stars Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney on the show everyone is talking about – Get Krack!n for ABC TV . In 2017 she was also invited to perform at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Just for Laughs festival, where her set was be filmed for a special to broadcast on The Comedy Channel.
Danielle’s first hour long stand up show Bush Rat won her the Best Newcomer Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2018. Winning this prestigious award will see Danielle take her show to the Soho Theatre in London’s West End later in the year.
“Insane pay-offs, delivered with the unhinged laugh a Batman villain would be proud of.” – Chortle
Blake Freeman is one of Australia’s brightest new comedians, making a name for himself with his own brand of energetic and disarmingly honest comedy.
Through his youthful energy and charismatic delivery Blake weaves charming stories, making the intensely personal relatable.
In 2018 he was hand-picked for Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s prestigious Comedy Zone and appeared on ABC TV’s Comedy Up Late series, toured nationally and hosted his own radio show. 2019 is proving to be a breakthrough year for Blake – His debut stand up show ‘There’s Something There’ was nominated for, and won, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s award for ‘Best Newcomer’, had a sell-out season at both the Brisbane and Sydney Comedy Festivals, and travels to the acclaimed Soho Theatre in London’s West End.
